Josh Kane

USAW L1 Coach / CrossFit L1 Trainer / CrossFit SPEAR (Self-Defense) / Partner

My name is Joshua Kane but you can call me Coach Josh. I am the Head Coach and Co-Owner here at Redemption.

My life is a simple one. I break my biggest passions into what I call the 4 F’s: Family, Fun, Fitness and Food.

What is incredible is that at Redemption Fitness and Sports Performance all four of those things are intertwined. I LOVE to coach other people. Helping new athletes get comfortable and helping to show them that they belong is what I live for. In the past I was lost, scared and intimidated of every gym I went into. I love connecting with athletes and helping them unlock a side of themselves they never thought existed. When in the gym training members, I am not just punching a clock and waiting for quitting time.

I am trying to maximize each moment for the gym and myself as a coach. I get to learn and grow everyday. I love to work hard but doing this job blurs the lines between work and play which is an incredible blessing.

One of my favorite quotes reads, “a candle is not diminished by giving another candle light.” Those ten words really speak volumes as to why I do what I do everyday with a smile on my face. To get the chance to educate, entertain and inspire daily is the coolest opportunity in the WORLD. An opportunity I will never take lightly or without extreme gratitude. If you read to the end of this you are at least curious. Come to the gym and see what we are about you might just find the best version of yourself here.

Coach Josh lives right here in Cuyahoga Falls. Loves to spend time with his family and puppy Paul. His fitness journey started in Martial Arts where he fell in love with strength and conditioning training. His only dream since he was 5 years of age was to own his own business/gym. Coach Josh is working on a Bachelor’s degree in Sales at the University of Akron. He is a certified Level 1 USA Weightlifting Coach, a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer and is CrossFit Spear certified as well.

Change is hard. It could be a new job, new city, new baby- when you find yourself in unfamiliar territory, it can be scary. We adjust, we adapt and we get used to our new surroundings, our new circumstances. We do it because we have to- for us, our families, our livelihood. When it comes to our health, it’s a different story. Change can be downright near impossible for many of us. Old habits die hard. The dreaded “day 1” of a new diet or fitness program looms over us like a sinister villain. Suddenly, our health becomes negotiable. We procrastinate, we dig our heels in and we say, “I’ll just start tomorrow”, except we don’t. Every day we have a chance to be better, but every day we continue with the same behavior we loathe but can’t seem to quit. Paul writes in Romans 7:15, “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.” He couldn’t be more right.

The point of all this? Simply to tell you that I get it. Our lives are full of good things. Careers, family, kids, friends- we can and we do make time for these responsibilities. These good things can also become our excuse for why we can’t or don’t change. There’s not enough time, money, energy or support left at the end of the day to invest in ourselves. We end up waiting for the perfect time to start when it doesn’t exist. My goal in building this gym is to help you make the time and give you the support you need to make a change. I have three kids, a wife, way too many pets and a hectic day job so I’m right there with you.

It’s hard- REALLY HARD. I love to sleep and I love to eat. Getting up early before the sun comes up is my kryptonite. Giving up cheeseburgers physically hurts me in ways I can’t explain. Sacrifice certainly isn’t easy. It can break us, but it can also make us. At Redemption Fitness, we understand this. We respect your sacrifice to be here, to trust us as coaches and as a facility, and we will never take it for granted. We want to help redeem you in the best (well, second best) way possible- by helping you become the fittest version of yourself that you’ve always wanted to be.

Brian lives in Cuyahoga Falls with his wife and high-school sweetheart Krista, along with their awesomely crazy brood of dependent beings: sons Caden (7) and Owen (3); daughter Elliott (1); two dogs; one cat; three chickens; two fish tanks and zero peace and quiet. His love of fitness started in 1990 by watching Arnold Schwarzenegger movies while lifting buckets of water in his basement at the age of ten. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and is certified as a Level 1 USA Weightlifting Coach and Level 1 CrossFit Trainer. He spends his free time working out and dreaming of cheat days filled with Swenson’s cheeseburgers.
